I thought the past season was sensational. The performances by the singers and guest artists were some of our best to date. In the programming, there seemed to be something to touch everyone. The spring concert was extremely important. I don’t know anyone who featured that many talented Black women composers for one concert. Truly groundbreaking. After an outstanding 2023/2024 season, MTS will excite and entertain our audiences with more special and unique programming.
For the December concert, we will be reprising some selections from past holiday concerts, but also introducing some new arrangements and songs of the Season. I am including several new arrangements of my own, including “People Look East,” the German favorite, “Ihr Kinderlein Kommet,” and Gounod’s “Bells Across the Snow.” As always, each year, we look at the lighter side of the Holiday programming. For this concert, we will feature yet another version of “Jingle Bells,” the Andrews Sisters’ “Jing a-ling, Jing a-ling,” and “Consort of Christmas Carols” by PDQ Bach. For the spring, we are resurrecting a concept we planned for May, 2020: “Peace Triumphant: 1945.” At that time, it was to be a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. Sadly, we had to cancel the concert due to Covid. In May 2025, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of end of the War. The programming will include a mix of patriotic tunes, arrangements of popular songs of the era, and a recognition of those who were lost in the Holocaust. Please keep your eyes on our website and Facebook page for continued updates regarding the season. Comments are closed.
