Peace Triumphant: 1945Saturday, May 9, 2020
7:30 p.m. First United Methodist Church of Oak Park
In the spring, the Michael Teolis Singers will present a concert commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. The program will include music that was written to celebrate the Allied heroes, but also remembering others who contributed to the victory – some making the ultimate sacrifice. Joining MTS for this special event is soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg, who will be the featured soloist for Ralph Vaughan Williams’ stirring and passionate work, “A Song of Thanksgiving.” Other selections will include a song of the Tuskegee Airmen; sounds of the Big Bands, some patriotic favorites, as well as a piece honoring those lost in the Holocaust. |
