A Message From Michael Teolis:
Dear Friends –
I’m happy to announce that we are back!
Yes, after nearly two years that comprised the better part of an historic pandemic, the Michael Teolis Singers will return on Saturday, December 4 at 7:30 pm performing “Christmas Favorites” at our primary venue, First United Methodist Church in Oak Park.
While it won’t feature the “normal” performance aesthetics that we’re all used to, we will be able to present an entertaining holiday program in a traditional setting. With multiple instrument accompaniment, we will be able to create a mellifluous environment that has been missing from many of our lives over the past 20 months.
Certainly, we will be respecting several of the boundaries that have come to define shared spaces during the COVID-19 era – every performing member of the Michael Teolis Singers is required to be fully vaccinated; all patrons must be fully vaccinated and masked; social distancing among family/group pods must be established; and the capacity of First United will be limited to 150-200 patrons. Our singers and appropriate instrumentalists will also be masked; we have invested in special vocal performance face masks that will significantly limit oral spread of any potential viral shedding from the front of the house. Our pledge to you is to provide the safest possible environment for all participants in our return.
Our current plan is to present a full season of Michael Teolis Singers performances, comprising our “Christmas Favorites” concert on December 4 and a spring concert on Saturday, May 7 that we are currently curating. We sincerely appreciate the moral and financial support that many of you have provided over the past challenging months, and we also acknowledge the important grants that we’ve received from the Illinois Arts Council and the Oak Park Area Arts Council.
Many community-based, not-for-profit performance organizations have disappeared during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are fortunate to count the Michael Teolis Singers among the survivors, and we are committed to performing at the high level that our patrons have rightfully come to expect over the past 14 years.
We hope to see you at First United Methodist Church on December 4. Ticket information, ordering and payment are available here.
With warm thanks,
Michael F. Teolis

Mike's NotesWe're back
November 5, 2021 Greetings!
It’s been a while since I last wrote you, but also since our members were able to meet to rehearse and perform for you. Although we haven’t been able to meet in person, I have been in contact with the Singers, as we made our plans for how we would reenter the musical universe. Needless to say, Covid had a devastating effect on our membership, which, in turn, affected the material we are planning for the coming season. Nonetheless, the Singers who returned are ready and very excited to perform. I was in contact with our Singers with updates and plans. While under Covid protocol, we assembled a virtual performance, which should be posted very shortly. Our first concert of the season is titled “Christmas Favorites...” |
