A Spring Concert by The Michael Teolis Singers
MTS and special guest, renowned trumpet artist, composer/arranger, Joe Burgstaller (formerly of the Canadian Brass) and organist Corrado Cavalli, celebrated the Illinois Bicentennial by featuring music of native Illinoisans or those with Illinois connections. Composers include Leo Sowerby, John La Montaine, Ned Rorem, Norman Luboff, Ron Nelson, Margaret Bonds, Lora Aborn, Shirley Whitecotton, Florence Price, William Ferris, and others. Also on the program was the premier of Burgstaller's arrangement for chorus and flugel horn of Astor Piazzola’s haunting composition “Oblivion."
